William F. Shepard

BERLIN – William F. Shepard, Jr., 92, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Woodbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Born on February 18, 1932, in Rochester, Vermont, he was the son of William and Charlotte (Degrass) Shepard, Sr. He attended local elementary schools in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

In 1973, he married Nancy Lee Santor in Orange, where they made their home on Reservoir Road.

William was employed by Rock of Ages for many years as well as Cook, Watkins and Patch.

His memberships include the VFW Mackenzie Webster Post #790 and the Barre American Legion Post #10.

Survivors include his three stepdaughters Diane Santamore, Darcy Warner, and Roslynn Bombard and 13 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Nancy Santamore of Orange, and his stepdaughter Cheryl Chateauvert and his siblings Mildred Rock, Mary Shepard, Ralph Shepard, and Arthur Shepard.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
