NORTHFIELD – Troy Shane Kirkpatrick, 58, of North Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Born on September 29, 1966, in Montpelier, he was the son of Kerry D. and Gloria L. (Lawrence) Kirkpatrick. He attended elementary school in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard before being honorably discharged.

Upon his return to Vermont, he became a police officer with the Barre City Police Department for many years rising to the rank of Sargeant before retiring in 2023.

Troy was first married to Tena Deyo, and they had three sons. They later divorced. On June 28, 1997, he married Christine Metzger. Christine passed away in 2022.

In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, trips to Prince Edward Island, and playing cribbage.  He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post #792 in Montpelier.

Survivors include his mother Gloria Field, his father Kerry Kirkpatrick and his wife, Sharon; his partner Brenda Ticehurst; his sons T.J. Kirkpatrick and his wife, Sunni and Thomas Kirkpatrick and his partner, Ashley; his stepdaughter Kendra Lewis and his stepsons John Gaboury and his partner, Ahn and Richard Gaboury; and his brothers Kristofor Kirkpatrick and his wife, Stacey and Kerry Kirkpatrick and his wife, Lisa; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Christine Kirkpatrick, his son Trevor Kirkpatrick; his paternal grandparents Norman and Vira Kirkpatrick; his maternal grandparents Irving and Gladys Lawrence as well as his stepfather Gary Field.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. There are no calling hours.
