Thomas William
Marsh

Canadian Club
12:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Thomas ‘Tom’ William Marsh, who left us on April 15, 2026.
Tom will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, contagious laughter, crisp white shirts and ties, and his captivating stories-especially those drawn from his many fishing adventures and fond memories of his youth.
A lifelong resident of Barre, Vermont, Tom was born in Barre on December 9, 1958. He attended Lincoln School, Barre Town Elementary and Middle School and U-32 High School. He continued his studies and graduated from Castleton State College in 1981.
Tom was a devoted family man who took great pride in providing for those he loved. He and his wife, Naomi, started their journey together at 13 years old. Over the years, they built a life and grew a family full of love.
Throughout his life, Tom enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, snowmobiling, car racing (local and NASCAR), attending live music events, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
He found peace and solace on the water fishing, especially on Rangeley Lake in Maine —whether alone, with someone he had just met, or surrounded by cherished family and friends.
Tom deeply cared for his clients and his community. He took great pride in his career in insurance and financial advising, working for MassMutual for his entire career. He worked at a multi-generational family business branch that reflected his values of trust, dedication and personal connection. He always strove to find the best possible solutions for his clients and their families.
Beyond his profession, he selflessly and openly shared his personal struggles and experiences while offering support to those facing substance abuse challenges. He was always willing to listen, guide, and encourage others on their journey toward sobriety.
Tom leaves behind his lifelong partner and beloved wife, Naomi; his son, Matthew, his daughter, Christal and her husband, Matthew Bradstreet. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Willow, and grand-dogs, Shadow and Mabel.
He is further survived by his brothers, sisters and their families: John (Donna) Marsh, Mary Marsh-King, Patricia (Robin) Lavalley, David (Karen) Marsh; his sister-in-law, Dale (Karl) Safford; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Phil) Mahoney, Jessica (Vincent) Trujillo, Nathan (Patty) Lavalley, Jaime (Matthew) Marsh-Ebbighausen, Taylor Marsh (Megan Maclver), Debbra (Michael) Figone, Garritt (Beth) Bresett and Toni and Keith Safford. He is also survived by cousins, Marsha Martin, Peter (Toni) Martin, and Catherine Dunleavy LeClerc. He also leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews; many respected colleagues from over the years, including his business partner, Cynthia Bryant, who will be working with his clients; and numerous dear friends, including Edward Bisson, Charles Merrill, and Ryan Malone.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Marrion Marsh; mother and father-in-law, Lester and Flora ‘Betty’ Bresett, his nephew, Gregory Lavalley; niece, Tiffany Cosby; brothers and sisters-in-law, David King, Dana and Darlene Bresett, Roderick Bresett and Lester ‘Skippy’ Bresett; aunts and uncles Stanton and Ester Marsh, Barbara and Donald Martin, Claire and Thomas Dunleavy, Russell Bennett and cousins, Ann Dunleavy Gannon, Mary Josephine Dunleavy, Martha Dunleavy Pellegrini, and Thomas P. Dunleavy Jr. He was also predeceased by many beloved dogs who were his treasured companions and true family members.
Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
A celebration of life will be held in Tom’s honor on September 13, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 PM at the Canadian Club in Barre, Vermont.
