BARRE – Thomas V. Baldwin, Sr., 79, a long-time Barre resident passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin with his family at his bedside.
Born on November 11, 1939 in North Duxbury, he was the son of Dewey and Lucy (Venner) Baldwin. He was educated in Barre and attended Spaulding High School.
On June 25, 1960 he married Alice J. Cumming in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre. Alice passed away in June 2009.
Thomas was employed by Sprague Electric first before becoming a painter for Edwin Busby, and ended his working career as a self-employed painter.
In his spare time, he enjoyed time spent with his family and his loyal companion Kaydee, watching the Detroit Red Wings and NASCAR, fishing, target practice, a good game of croquet, and doing kinds deeds for anyone in need. He will be remembered for having a quick wit, a good sense of humor, and his willingness to debate a cause he supported.
Survivors include his son Tom Baldwin and his wife, Lynn of Colchester; his daughter Tami Baldwin and her husband, Rod Cook (Rowdie Roddy) of Barre; his son Tim Baldwin of Hardwick; and his son Todd Baldwin and his wife, Sherrel of Barre; his grandchildren Maeghan Lumsden and her husband, Josh; Kelsie Baldwin; Jaret and Jayme Baldwin; and his great-grandchildren Haeden, Landen, and Kolten Lumsden, Jonnah Stelzl, Kamden Sayers, and Kamayla and Patrick Haldane; his sister Phyllis Brendemuehl of Freeport, IL as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Alice Baldwin, his siblings William Baldwin; Patricia Ingram, Dewey Baldwin, Frank Baldwin, Carol Check, Beverly Kennedy, and Marjorie Baldwin.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours.
