BARRE – Thelma E. Carpenter, 90, of Websterville Road passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at her home with her family at her bedside.
Born on May 1, 1934, in Williamstown, she was the daughter of Wendell J. and Gertrude P. (Lowery) Crawford. She attended Lower Websterville Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1952.
On April 29, 1955, she married Kenneth Carpenter in the Washington Baptist Church. Following their marriage, they made their home in Websterville.
She was the office manager for Bonacorsi and Son, food service wholesaler until her retirement.
Thelma was a member of the Websterville Baptist Church and taught Sunday school to 2–3-year-olds for 30 years as well as serving as their bookkeeper and on the school board for the Websterville Baptist Christian School.
In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, and sewing.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth Carpenter and her sons James H. Carpenter (Maureen), Charles E. Carpenter, and Scott A. Carpenter (Bridgette), her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, her brother Alton B. Crawford, and her sister Shirley E. Jarmalowitz as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Stanley, Harry, and Clifton.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at the convenience of her family.
