Susan R. Burke

HARDWICK – Susan R. Burke, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, VT.

Born on February 16, 1951, in Morrisville, she was the daughter of Gideon and Geraldine (Silver) Burnham.  She was a lover of all things horses, enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards, watching football and golf, as well as playing piano back in the day.  She had a special love for her dog Lili and her grand-pup Blue.

Susan will be deeply missed by her children Matthew Gilcris (Wendy) of Barton, VT;  Christian Gilcris of Barre, VT; and Joel Urie (Heather) of Huntington, VT; her grandchildren Elizabeth, Jonathan, Benjamin, Andrew, Rhiannon, Lili, Oliver and Autumn; her great-grandchildren Jackson, Kathryn, Ryan, and Owen and her siblings David Burnham (Kathryn) of Johnson, VT; and Lori Shatney (Alan) of Kingsland, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was  predeceased by her husband Jack Burke, and her brothers Kendall (Kenny) Burnham and Gideon (Burnie) Burnham.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
