BARRE – Steven F. Bailey, 68, of Washington Street passed away on   Monday, September 16, 2024, at his home.

Born on June 11, 1956, in Barre, he was the son of Richard F. and Virginia C. (Couillard) Bailey. He attended local elementary schools and graduated from Williamstown High School. After graduation, he took some college courses.

On June 22, 1996, he married Laurie Ellen Coburn in East Montpelier. Following their marriage, they made their home in Williamstown and Barre. Laurie passed away on August 18, 2017.

Steven was a newspaper carrier for both the Times Argus and the Washington World, a job which he took very seriously as he wanted to always make sure that folks received their newspapers. He thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as Santa and delivering newspapers during the holiday season.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, coin collecting and playing cribbage with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son Anthony Morrison (April) of Fancy Gap, VA; his granddaughter Jessica; his brother Russell Bailey (Brenda); and his sister Jenny Coburn and her companion Sonny Billings.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Laurie, an infant son, Dana and his brother Richard “Ricky” Bailey.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
