BARRE – Stanley A. Mason, 78, of Skyline Drive passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at his home.

Born on June 22, 1943, in Barre, he was the son of Earl and Clara (Thorp) Mason. He attended Matheson Elementary School and Spaulding High School. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.

On June 14, 1973, he married Elaine Witham in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Williamstown before moving to Atlanta, Georgia for five years and then returned to Barre.

Stanley was employed as a Sales Associate at Walmart for many years before becoming a school bus driver and eventually a salesclerk at Jiffy Mart.

He was a member of the Baptist Church in Barre and also the Granite Masonic Lodge #35 of Barre.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years at the Elks Club, Union Mutual and at private home gatherings. He loved playing Bingo, adult coloring and going to Thunder Road.

Survivors include his wife Elaine “Sue” Mason of Barre; his stepson John Jewett of Barre; and his brothers Douglas Mason, also of Barre and David Wheeler of Austin, TX as well as his three special cats Smokey, Ebony and Ebenezer.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters and one brother.

The Masonic Service to honor and celebrate his life followed by a gathering will be held at a time to be announced.
