BARRE – Stanley Lynn Fordham, Jr., 79, of Pleasant Street passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 15, 2026, after months of poor health at Barre Gardens.
Born on January 14, 1947, in Montpelier, he was the son of Stanley L. and Edith (Sweeny) Fordham, Sr.
He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He also worked in the stone sheds, farming, mechanical work, and as a painter – sheet rocking and mudding and in construction – concrete.
Survivors include his mate of 35 years, Marcia LaFond of Barre, his daughter Tammy Raymond, and his son Wildred Fordham; his four grandchildren Jessie Cantrelland husband, Chris; Shawn Fordham, Desiree Baker, and Mercedes Lucy, his 13 great-grandchlidren; and his sister Peggy Batchelder, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Stanley Fordham, III, his brother Doug Fordham and his sisters Sally Fordham and Muriel Davidson.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Canadian Club of Barre, 414 East Montpelier Road, Barre for Stanley, and his son.
