PLAINFIELD – Shirley Sue Huntington, 62, of School Street, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her home with her family at her bedside.
Born March 19, 1954 in Northfield, she was the daughter of Lionel and Marion (Ibey) Freeman. She attended Northfield Schools and graduated from Northfield High School in 1972.
On August 31, 1974 she married John M. Huntington in Roxbury. Most of their married life had been spent in Plainfield.
Shirley had been employed for many years as a seamstress at the Vermont Flannel Company in East Barre.
She enjoyed reading, music, watching sports, sewing and most of all, any activity involving her greatest treasure, her grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband John, she leaves her daughters Ruth Huntington and her partner Randall White of Berlin, and Judy Huntington of Plainfield and her son Mark Huntington and his wife, Shannon of East Barre and 3 grandsons Jared Preman, Dylan White and Mason Huntington and granddaughter Jordan Preman as well as her brother Roger Freeman in Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Shirley’s life will be honored and celebrated with her graveside and committal service on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Plainmont Cemetery in East Montpelier.
Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
