Shirley C. Frigon

OCALA, FL – Shirley (Croteau) Frigon, 101, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Ocala, FL.

Born on March 21, 1924, in Williamstown, VT, she was the daughter of Hubert and Lena (Decoteau) Croteau. When she was three years old, her family moved to Plainfield, VT. Shirley attended Hollister Hill School for eight years and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1942.

In July of 1946, Shirley married Sailey Ennis.  They later divorced.  She married Gerald Frigon in June of 1968.

Shirley was very active in the Women of the Moose, and among her accomplishments was being crowned Queen of Sponsors and also earning the College of Regents Degree.

She was employed by the Granite Savings Bank, Modern Printing Company, and the Nichols & Dimes store until her retirement.

Shirley lived in Barre, VT before moving to Clayton, NC in 1998. In North Carolina she dedicated many years to visiting her husband, Gerry, in a nursing home. They were married for 42 years before he passed away in July of 2010. She moved to Ocala, FL in 2011.

She was a member of the Universalist Church in Barre and in her spare time, she enjoyed her family, dancing, fishing, volunteering, and crafts.

Shirley is survived by a son, Donald Ennis and his wife, Alice of Graniteville, VT; a daughter, Donna Cerutti and her husband, Bryan of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren Deborah Curley and her husband, Will; Eric Cerutti, Tracy Ennis and her friend, Jay Vose; Shelby Slomp and her  husband, Olaf; five great-grandchildren Nora and Zandra Curley, Kelley and Jason Slomp, and Markie Delude, and one great-great grandchild Wilhelmina Delude, as well as two sisters Joyce Wheeler of Marshfield, VT and Lena Hart of Plainfield, VT and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Wayne, Leon, Carl, Hubert Jr., and Robert and sisters Hazel, Rachael, Cecille, Rose, Vena, and Vera.

Interment will take place in the Berlin Corner Cemetery in Berlin, VT. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW 34th Avenue, Ocala, FL  34474.
