BARRE – Sarah Ives Hathaway, 47, of Hill Street passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at her home with her Hill Street family and her loving brother, Dave at her bedside.
Born March 14, 1969 in Berlin, she was the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Hohwald) Hathaway. Sarah attended local schools as well as many programs for the gifted and talented.
She made her home in the Central Vermont area and for many years at her incredible home on Hill Street. Sarah was employed by Ben and Jerry’s, a local bagel company and most recently by the Hunger Mountain Co-op.
In her spare time, she loved to draw and paint, creating many beautiful works of art. Sarah also loved Elmo and the movie, “Annie”.
Survivors include her brothers David Hathaway and his partner, Monique Payne of East Calais, and Peter Wires of Montpelier; her sister, Nancy Cunningham and her husband, Jon, of Montpelier as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Sarah’s family would like to thank Washington County Mental Health and the Hill Street Staff, especially Jayne Placey for their loving care.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Barre American Legion Post #10, 320 North Main Street, Barre.
