Sandra Fowler

BERLIN – Sandra “Sandy” (Holt) Fowler, 84, of Walker Road passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Woodridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Born on July 18, 1939, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Morton) Holt.  She attended Spaulding Graded School and graduated from Spaulding High School.

On June 6, 1959, she married Rodney Fowler in the Grace Methodist Church in Plainfield.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Plainfield, before moving to Barre and eventually settling in Berlin.   Rodney passed away on September 4, 2019.

Sandy was first employed as a Clerk in the Classified Ad Department at the Times Argus before she became the cook at Twinfield High School, worked at the Jack and Jill Daycare in Middlesex then later she joined the staff at the Barre City Schools as a speech paraprofessional.

She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and served as the organist for the church for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, traveling with her motorcycle club mailing cards to family and friends, camping in her recreational vehicle with the Good Sam club and most of all baking for the local fire department personnel, her neighbors, and the postal carriers.   Her love for her dogs was an important part of her and Rodney’s life.

Survivors include her children Cynthia Piro (Rick) of Barre, Daryl Fowler (Maggie) of Topsham and Crystal Isabelle (Tom) of Barre, her nine grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren; her siblings Larry Holt (Sandy), Brenda Cruz, and Wayne Holt (Kathy), and her brother-in-law John Robert Fowler (Cathy), her sisters-in-law Shirley Baumann (William) and Nancy Holt, and Robert Modica (Rosemary) whom she thought of as a brother as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Rodney Fowler and her brother Dennis Holt.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.  Inurnment will take place later at the convenience of the family.
