Sandra E. Crowningshield

BARRE - Sandra Elaine (Owen) Crowningshield would like to let you know that time on earth is complete with her passing on March 6, 2024.  Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will dance, laugh, and be with loved ones, including her cat Pepper.

Born on July 5, 1938, in Concord, VT, she was the daughter of Gifford and Margaret Owen. She lived in Montpelier, Middlebury, and Barre and was very close with her classmates from Middlebury High School - attending all the reunions.

On March 11, 1961, she married Sheridan Crowningshield in the Memorial Baptist Church in Middlebury.  She worked at Porter Hospital and Simmon’s Precision Sewing, before becoming a homemaker.  Sandra’s happy place was Hampton Beach, NH where she enjoyed every moment, with her last trip being in 2023 as she celebrated her 85th birthday. She enjoyed bowling, music, the Holidays, westerns, the Waltons, Andy Griffith, Elvis Presley, Sunday morning show, and the Soaps as well as collecting dimes, dressing well, and eating chicken pot pie and cider donuts.

Survivors include her two daughters Debbie DeForge and her husband, Allen of Denver, NC, and Lisa Crowningshield and her partner, Bill Phelps of West Topsham, VT; her three sons Douglas Crowningshield of Cabot, VT; Gary Crowningshield of Burlington, VT; and Christopher Crowningshield of Wyoming; her grandchildren Cody DeForge and his wife, Chelsea of Mooresville, NC; Geremy DeForge and his wife, Beth of Reedsburg, WI; Adam DeForge and his wife, Alicia DeForge of Creedmoor, NC; Eric Beach of Orange, VT; Ashley Collins of Barre, VT; Taylor Crowningshield of Northfield, VT;  Kayla Crowningshield of MA; Ryan O Crowningshield of Northfield, VT; and Ryan C. Crowningshield and Tyler Crowningshield both of Vergennes; VT; and her 12 wonderful great-grandchildren as well as her brother Elton Owen and his wife, Arlene of Brandon, VT; her nephew Jeff Owen of Forest Dale;  her nieces Sharon Denton and Alicia Owen of Brandon, VT and her cousin Paul Thomas of New Hampshire.   It's with a heavy heart we say good-bye, we all love you.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Sheridan Crowningshield, cousin Carol Cecchini, and many dear friends whom she loved.

The graveside service in memory of Sandra with song, blessing, and love will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Hope Cemetery in Barre.  There are no calling hours.
