BARRE - Sandra Bardosi Collins, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Collins Care Home in Randolph, Vermont where she had been a resident for the past year.

Born on December 2, 1929, in Montpelier, Vermont, she was the daughter of Joseph Elvezio Bardosi and Olga Bertoli Bardosi. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1947 and Boston University in 1951.

In 1953, she married James Collins. They made their home in Barre where they raised their children, Denise and Scott. They later divorced.

After graduating from Boston University, Sandra taught typing and shorthand for one year at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont. For 39 years she was employed by the Vermont Legislature, retiring in 1995 as a Journal Secretary for the House of Representatives.

When she retired, she volunteered for many organizations in Barre. She particularly enjoyed working for the Aldrich Library and the Vermont History Center. She was an avid reader and a family historian. She used her extensive genealogical research to create albums of family stories and photographs. What a wonderful gift! When her family remembers this generosity, they will also remember the beautifully hand-sewn quilts they received from Sandra.

She was proud of her Italian heritage. On her first trip to Italy with her daughter Denise she visited Fiesole, a village near Florence and the birthplace of her grandmother. This inspired a love of travel that she would share with her friends for 30 years.

Most of all, Sandra loved her family. She offered a lifetime of gentle guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support. She attended all her children’s and grandchildren’s plays, concerts, and sporting events. Many nights she could be seen at Spaulding High School, standing at the fence with her dog Reglan, watching a baseball game. Holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings brought her such great joy!

Sandra is survived by her children Denise Martin (Alec Hastings) of Randolph Center and Scott Collins (Gina) of Barre, her grandchildren Nathan Martin (Lily), Sean Martin,

Ella Rose Collins, Travis Collins, and her great grandsons Maverick and Wilder Martin, and Weston Collins. She is also survived by her extended family of step grandchildren and their families: Carmen Grace Arnold and Connor Mears, Jake and Katie Amadon, Josey Hastings Archdeacon, and Calley Hastings.

She was predeceased by her parents and son-in-law Dale Martin.

There will be a graveside service at the convenience of her family.
