Ruth E. Jones

BERLIN - Ruth E. Jones, 87, a former resident of Berlin, Vermont passed away on Tuesday,

November 28, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Bradley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Cleveland, Tennessee. Words cannot express our loss. We will cherish the precious memories until we meet again.

Born on December 7, 1935, in Barre, Vermont to Walter and Evelyn (Thompson) Potter. She attended grade school in Plainfield, Vermont and graduated from Plainfield High School. She served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army reserves.

On December 15, 1956, she married Robert B. Jones in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. Following their marriage, they first made their home in Muskegon Heights, Michigan before moving to Vermont, first settling in Plainfield and then later moving to Berlin. For the past two years she resided in Cleveland, Tennessee.

She retired after many years as a State of Vermont employee.  Ruth was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her daughters Rev. Rosita Bryan (married to Dr. David Bryan) of Cleveland, TN  and Tamara Jones of Conyers, GA and her son, Robert Jones, Jr. of Plainfield, VT;  her grandchildren Danielle and (Marlon Nelson) and Nicole Bryan of Cleveland, TN; Jeneva Grey of Gastonia, NC; and Nicholas Grey of Conyers, GA; her great-grandchildren Eliana Nelson, Jackson Walls, Sloane Walls, and Ricardo Haldene; her in-laws Edna McMurray and Walter Jones of Muskegon Heights, MI and Henderson Jones, Jr. of Detroit, MI as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert B. Jones on January 14, 2019, and her sisters Beverly Goulette and Patricia Benway as well as an infant brother.

A memorial service will be held in the Vermont Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of her family.  There are no calling hours.
