Rose M. Kidder

ORANGE – Rose M. Kidder, 65, of George Street, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born on September 23, 1958, in Barre, she was the daughter of Phoebe and Albert Dupont of Middlesex. After graduating from High School at U-32; she went directly into the work field. On November 11, 1978, she married the love of her life, Francis (Fred) Kidder.

Rose worked like no other in this world, both at home and her places of employment. Working at Merry Maids, from there she went on to be a lead cutter at Huntington Homes. She then went to do what she loved and took a sewing job at Vermont Flannel and later Black Diamond Apparel. Following the closing of Black Diamond Apparel, she attended college at CCV and obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting while working and raising her two sons with her husband, Francis (Fred).

After completing her degree, she spent most of her career at the Department of Motor Vehicles where she later retired in 2021. Following her retirement, she took a few months off to spend with family and friends before going back to work doing what she enjoyed the most; sewing at Vermont Flannel.

Rose enjoyed having large annual parties at her home, collecting Owl ornaments and other special keepsakes, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She had a profound love of gardening, working around the house and making her “famous” bread that she and her husband, Francis (Fred) would give out annually at the Holidays to their neighbors. Rose was eager to begin traveling with her family-she was blessed to begin her travels to her most desired destinations Nashville, Tennessee and Branson, Missouri.

Survivors include her husband of 45+ years Francis (Fred) Kidder; her sons John Kidder and his wife, Samantha and Brent Kidder and his wife, Chelsea and her beloved grandchildren Tucker and Lydia Kidder as well as her brothers Charles (Charley) Dupont and Carl Dupont, and her sister Vicky Dupont.

In addition to her grandparents and parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ned Dupont.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. in the Brook Haven Cemetery in Orange. There are no calling hours.
