BARRE – Rose McGrath Dufresne, 68, of Berlin Street passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on December 1, 1956, in Barre City, she was the daughter of Fred and Laura (Sherman) McGrath, Sr. She attended Barre Town Elementary School and graduated from Williamstown High School, class of 1974.
On February 14, 1976, she married John Dufresne in the Graniteville Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Colorado, Williamstown, Montpelier, and Barre.
Rose was employed as a Manager at October Lane and Fred Duff’s Gas Station before she joined the staff at Mayo Healthcare as an LNA.
She served as President of the Williamstown Ladies Auxiliary, was a Constable for the town of Williamstown, and a member of the Williamstown Ambulance Squad as well as President of the Resident Council at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation.
In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, yard sales, baking cooking, drawing, and painting. She loved to host BBQ’s and holiday parties for the family.
Survivors include her husband John Dufresne; her son Jeremie Dufresne and his partner, Lyndsey Blakely; and her daughter Crystal Dufresne and her partner, Nicole Provost, all Barre, VT; her grandchildren Abigail Dufresne, Jacob Dufresne, and David Judkins, and her great- grandchild Theo Doon; her brothers Fred McGrath, Jr., and his wife, Patty of Ocala, FL; and Donald McGrath and his wife, Lynn of Watertown, South Dakota. And many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Richard McGrath, Frank McGrath, and Reginald McGrath and her sisters Barbie Prescott, Geraldine Pixley, and Allison McGrath.
There will be a potluck service to honor and celebrate her life to be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the American Legion Post #10, 320 North Main Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
