Ronald "Joe" Lanctot

WILLIAMSTOWN - Ronald (Joe) Lanctot, 87, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Advent Health in Ocala, Florida after a short illness joining his beloved wife Sandra in Heaven.

Born on October 27, 1937, he was the son of Denis and Veronica (Cote) Lanctot. He attended St. Sylvester's School.

On June 1, 1957, Joe married Sandra Ferno in Graniteville, and they made their homes in Graniteville and Williamstown. Sandra passed away on March 21, 2017. He married Rosemary Deforge on September 4, 2020.

Joe worked 55 years as a school bus driver and also worked for St. Sylvester Cemetery for twenty years. In earlier years he owned and operated a dairy farm for over 25 years and prior to that he worked for Associated Memorials, North Barre Granite and Ted Ladd Trucking.

He loved woodworking, raising and training beagles and tinkering in his garage. He finished a "steamer trunk" for each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of his biggest joys in life was wheeling and dealing. He also enjoyed going to lawn sales and auctions.

Joe was an active and dedicated member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Williamstown, VT and St. John’s Catholic Church in Northfield, VT as well as Blessed Trinity Church in Ocala, FL and Christ the King Catholic Church in Citra, FL. He was a Eucharistic minister in all parishes. He was also a member of the Northfield Beagle Club where he enjoyed running his beagles. He served as a Williamstown Cemetery commissioner for over 14 years and also volunteered at the Vermont Food Bank.

Survivors include his wife Rosemary and her children Ralph Deforge Jr., of Gowanda, NY and Penny Cahill, of Hedgeville, WV; his three daughters Tammy Carrier and her husband, Steven of Danville, VT; Renee Pearce and her husband, Fred of Williamstown, VT; and  JoEllen Geno and her husband, Randy of Ft. Mc Coy, FL and one son Timothy Lanctot and his wife, Deanna of Williamstown; his grandchildren Stephanie, Emily and Ryan Carrier, Betsy Pearce, Chad Geno, Michelle Jillson and Matthew Lanctot; his great-grandchildren Ava and Ella Marshia, Nolan Geno, Alexus Gabardi and Troy Jillson II; his sisters Ginette Lessard of Graniteville, VT; Denise Town of Websterville, VT;  and Yvonne Winters of Williamstown, VT  as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. John’s Catholic Church in Northfield, VT. Following the service, inurnment will take place in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Food Bank, 33 Parker Road, Barre, VT  05641.
