ORANGE - Ronald C. Elmer, 80, of Orange, Vermont quietly passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Barre Gardens Nursing Home in Barre, VT.
Born on April 26, 1943, Ronald was the son of Clyde and Fayra (Clement) Elmer also of Orange, VT. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1961 and married the one love of his life, Cecile Badeau, on June 22, 1963.
Ronald was a long-time employee and supervisor at Rock of Ages Corporation and after retiring, went on to work at Bombardier Corp in Barre Town and the Times Argus in Barre until his heart led him to stay at his beloved childhood home in Orange. A quiet man with who enjoyed the outdoors, he frequently could be found cutting wood, walking or working outside. Ronald served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Monica Catholic Church for many years and was a true believer in Christ as his Savior. His friendly smile and welcoming wave will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Cecile, and their two children, son Rodney Elmer and his wife, Theresa (Dexter) of Northfield and their children Christopher, Rion, Casey, and Taylor of Maine, along with their wives and children; daughter Veronica Parent and her husband, Marco of Williamstown and their daughter Krystal; his sister Marilyn Massie and brother Melvin Elmer and wife, Kristy.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his sister Shirlene Bolles and her husband, Leland, as well as Marilyn’s husband, James Massie. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces and their extended families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 04, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre, VT. A private burial in Brook Haven Cemetery in Orange will be held with the family at a later date.
