SOUTH BARRE – Roland A. Hayford, Jr., 56, of Snowbridge Road, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home.
Born March 2, 1960 in Barre, he was the son of Roland A. and JoAnn (Gomez) Hayford, Sr. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1978.
Following graduation, Roland briefly moved to Florida to attend school and moved back to Vermont closer to family.
On December 18, 1982, Roland married Marcia Nutbrown at the Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre.
He was employed in the food industry and then went to the granite industry where he spent many years at Rouleau Granite and Rock of Ages.
Roland was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and loved to hunt. He played softball in the men’s league and supported his daughters when they played softball and enjoyed watching his granddaughter play sports. He also enjoyed talking to his grandson about playing sports one day. He will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia of 33 years, his three daughters, Hannah Hayford and her boyfriend, James Hood and granddaughter, Caydence Ellis, Hydee Hayford, and Heather Anderson and her husband, Michael “Mike” III and grandson, Michael “Mikey” Anderson IV; his father, Roland Hayford, Sr.; three sisters, Nancy LeClerc and her husband, Dean Preston, Deanna Mandell and boyfriend, Norman Groskin, Allison Moyes and her husband, Doug; mother-in-law, Norma Nutbrown; sister-in-law, Pamela Day and her husband, Charles “Chuck” and brother-in-law, Brad Nutbrown and his wife, Thelma, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, JoAnn R. Hayford and father-in-law, Coleman Nutbrown, Jr.
Family and friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre, on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Canadian Club of Barre Town with a time of fellowship and refreshments from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
