BERLIN – Rodney Gilbert Fowler, 80, of Walker Road passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center with his family at his bedside.
Born March 13, 1939 in Plainfield, he was the son of John and Florence (Bliss) Fowler. Rodney attended Plainfield Elementary School and graduated from Plainfield High School.
On June 6, 1959 he married Sandra Holt in Plainfield. Following their marriage, they first made their home in Plainfield before moving to Berlin in 1985.
Rodney worked for the Sunbeam Bread Company before starting his own business RGF Construction and erecting silos for the Unadilla Silo Company. During his retirement years, he worked for Dartmouth Moving and Storage Company and Lacillade Lumber Company.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Group.
In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed time spent with family, camping, hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling and playing the trumpet in the Plainfield Hobo Band as well as attending church and collecting antique clocks.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Fowler of Berlin; his daughter Cynthia Piro and her husband, Richard of Barre Town; his son Daryl Fowler and his wife, Maggie of East Topsham; his daughter Crystal Isabelle and her husband, Thomas of Barre; his grandchildren Megan, Stephen, Kyle, Maverick, Magenta, Destiny, Grace, Hannah, and Christina; his great-grandchildren Tanner, Ryan, Isaac, and Patrick; his brother John Fowler and his wife, Debbie of Jericho; and his sister Shirley Baumann and her husband, William of Randolph as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Florence Fowler.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the service, inurnment will take place in the Plain-mont Cemetery in East Montpelier. Family and friends may call on Friday, September 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
