BARRE TOWN – Robert Arden Miller, 83, of West Road, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home.
Born November 7, 1932 in Cabot, he was the son of Harry A. and Edith (Martin) Miller. He attended South Barre schools and Spaulding High School in Barre.
On July 20, 1952 he married Sylvia J. Lawrence at the Miller Homestead in Barre Town where they spent their married life. Sylvia died July 19, 2002 at her home.
Bob was a long-time dairy farmer; and a beloved School Bus Driver for the Montpelier School System. He will be well remembered for raising corn and distributing it to many local grocery stores.
He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friendly and helpful to all whether family, friends or strangers, and we will always remember that.
Bob was a long-time member of the South Barre and Montpelier Church of Christ and several health support groups.
Survivors include his son Richard A. Miller and his wife, Billie Sue of Urbana, IL and 3 daughters; Dorothy Miller and her partner Randy Wade of Santa Barbara, CA; Sally Black and her husband, Joven of Montpelier and Jane Benoit and her husband, Edmond of Barre Town as well as 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sylvia and brothers Willard and Harry Miller.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Miller Homestead, 19 Sherman Drive, Barre Town his life will be honored and celebrated under the direction of his son, Richard Miller and grandson Ryan Miller, both ministers of the Church of Christ.
Fellowship, a sharing time and a corn roast of Bob Miller corn will follow the ceremony.
Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
