Robert J. Mcduff

BARRE TOWN – Robert Joseph McDuff, 86, of Beckley Hill Road, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home after a brief illness. His family had been at his bedside.
Born May 3, 1929 in St. Hermenegilde, P.Q. Canada, he was the son of Marc A. and Germaine (Langevin) McDuff. He had attended schools in Coaticook, Quebec.
On October 24, 1953 he married Ethel Paquette in Coaticook. Most of their married life had been spent in Barre City and at their current residence since 1970. Ethel died May 6, 2010.
In earlier years, he had worked on his parent’s farm and later was a lumberjack. Following that he was a granite stone cutter in the winter months in several Barre sheds and a self-employed housepainter during the summer.
He also bought and sold real estate and had managed several apartment houses in the Barre and Lake Worth, Florida area.
Bob enjoyed his everyday walks, the great outdoors, camping with his family, taking care of his property and animals, bonfires, snowmobiling and spending time with his friends around the pool. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida and its beaches for over 35 years.
His memberships included St. Monica Parish and the Barre Canadian Club.
Survivors include his daughter Sylvia Lozier, and her husband, “Larry”, of Barre City and 2 sons Real McDuff, and his wife, Lynn, of New Hampshire and Donald McDuff in Florida and 4 grandchildren: Lance and Jessie Lozier and Erin and Ethan McDuff.
Also surviving are several siblings and nieces and nephews in Canada.
Besides his parents and his wife, Ethel, he was predeceased by his son, Mark McDuff, and 2 brothers.
It was Robert’s wish that there be no formal services planned.
His life will be honored and celebrated on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Steak House Restaurant on the Barre-Montpelier Road.
