BERLIN – Robert Bennon Jones, Sr., 84, of Eastwood Manor Drive passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction.
Born September 30, 1934 in Wardell, MO, he was the son of Henderson and Eva Mae (Whaley) Jones, Sr.
Robert served in the U.S. Army. On December 15, 1956 he married Ruth Potter in Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Following their marriage, they first made their home in Muskegon Heights, MI before moving to Vermont, settling first in Plainfield and then later moving to Berlin.
He was employed by Granite Industries of Vermont as a sandblaster and in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Robert was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jones of Berlin; his daughters Rev. Rosita Bryan and her husband, Dr. David Bryan of Tortola, B.V.I.; Tamara Jones of Conyers, GA; and his son Robert Jones, Jr., of Plainfield, VT; his grandchildren Danielle Nelson and her husband, Marlon Nelson and Nicole Bryan and her husband, Momyne Afidou both of Cleveland, TN; Jeneva Grey of Gastonia, NC; and Nicholas Grey of Conyers, GA; his great-grandchildren Eliana Nicole Nelson, Jackson Rider Walls, Sloane Hunter Walls, and Ricardo Kingston Haldane; his siblings Edna McMurray and Walter Jones both of Muskegan Heights, MI; Henderson Jones, Jr., of Detriot, MI; and Vernon Jones of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Jeannette Buchanan and Mary Lou Jones and his brother Phaskell Jones.
A graveside service at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
