Robert S. Davis

PLAINFIELD, VT/NAPLES, FL - Robert Sprague Davis of Lower Road, died on Friday, May 12, 2017 at his home in Naples, Florida.

Born on May 25, 1921 in Barre, he was the son of Ralph Earl and Edith Marie (Sprague) Davis.

An active man, Robert was blessed with good health through most of his long life. After retiring from his career as a real estate executive with Cities Service Oil, he and his wife Marsha Davis (Murray) built a home with a view of the Green Mountains in Plainfield. They lived there happily until her death in December 2011. He lived independently until fracturing his hip four months ago. We were blessed to have him, in sound mind, as long as we did.

He is dearly missed by his two children, Mark Davis of Plainfield and Vaune Davis of Toronto, Canada. He had six grandchildren: Jessica, Catherine and Michael Davis of Winchester, MA and Peter, Ethan and Helen Rotenberg of Toronto, Canada. He was beloved by his nieces and nephews including Richard, Tammy and Deborah Davis and Valerie Blachly of Barre; and Alicia and Scott Murray of Sudbury, MA.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Marsha; his three younger brothers Richard, Ralph and Raymond; his sister Jacqueline Kelsey; and his dear niece Sherry Wheale.

A memorial service will be held in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., after which his remains will be interred at the Elmwood Cemetery, with full military honors for his service to our country during World War Two. His children invite those wishing to make personal visits of condolence to visit them at the family home at 2260 Lower Road, Plainfield, on Thursday and Friday evening prior to the funeral between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
