MIDDLESEX CENTER - Richard C. Hoermann, 64, of Daniel’s Farm Road passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer at the family home in Barre, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on July 2, 1954 in Annapolis, Maryland, he was the son of Francis and Judith (Reynolds) Hoermann.
From an early age, Rick knew that he wanted to be involved in construction. He graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1973 and went on to graduate from Vermont Technical College in 1976 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. One of his first projects was designing and building his home in Middlesex Center.
Over the course of his career, Rick managed construction projects throughout the state. His most satisfying project was working on the restoration of the Waterbury State Office Complex following Hurricane Irene.
On March 17, 1990, he married Tammy Lynne Cross in Barre. Their daughter, Melanie, was born in April of 1991. Rick’s happiest times were spent with his family, be it camping in Maine, vacations to Walt Disney World, or skiing with his daughter. He always enjoyed spending time on the lawn with his basset hound, Maizy, and was looking forward to restoring his 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy; his daughter, Melanie; his siblings, Tom, Bill, Chris, and Betsy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Central Vermont Humane Society, PO Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601.
