Randy was a longtime resident of Williamstown and graduated from Spaulding High School. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved.
Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Randy had a unique ability to make people laugh and feel welcome. He enjoyed countless hours at camp, gathering with family and friends, spending time with his beloved dogs, following racing, going buggying, and working on cars. Whether tackling a repair project or simply sharing a story, he was happiest when surrounded by the people who mattered most to him.
An auto mechanic throughout his life, Randy took great pride in his work and was respected for his skill, dedication, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was a generous man who always looked for the good in others and believed the best about people. His kindness, loyalty, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Randy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Sweet; his sons, Michael Jenkins (Hannah), Brandon Surprenant (Brandy), Anthony Sweet (Jesse), and Ethan Sweet (Kaylin); and his cherished grandchildren, Isaiah, Will, Bella, Caroline, Penelope, Alex, and Ivy. He is also survived by his brother, Shayne Sweet (Debbie); his sister-in-law, Sandra Jenkins; his nephews, Nicholas (Kristen), Nathan (Ashley), Patrick, and Gregory; his great-nieces and great-nephews; his aunts, uncles, and many cousins; and close friends whom he considered family. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Sophie.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Amanda Sweet; his parents; and his grandparents. He was also predeceased by his K9 companions Blue, Popeye, Angus and Sweetpea.
Randy will be remembered for his loving heart, infectious humor, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family. His memory will live on in the stories shared at camp, on buggy rides, at family gatherings, in the garage, and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5-7pm at Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre, VT. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at a later date and announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, Randy would have preferred that you go on an adventure, make memories with those you love with a cold Miller Lite, and enjoy life to the fullest— just as he did.
