BARRE – Rachel Robar, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation.
Born on March 13, 1935, in Morrisville, she was the daughter of Ely and Eva (Baker) Defrain. She attended elementary school in Gaysville, VT and Randolph Union High School.
Rachel was employed by Sprague Electric in Barre for many years. She then joined the staff in the mail room at the Department of Motor Vehicles as part of the Vermont Career Opportunities Program with the State of Vermont.
In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music and in her younger years, going to yard sales. Most of all, she truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children Don Robar and his life companion, Edith Clough of Waitsfield; Nancy Stone (Ray) of Graniteville; Linda White of Barre; Tina Nisen (Tom) of Williamstown; and Wende Smith (Patrick Burke) of Burlington as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughters Charlene Schwab and Cyndi Hall, her sons Frederick Robar, Jr., and James Robar, her grandson Justin Robar, her granddaughter Joy Smith, her three brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family.
