Paul Edward Putney

December 14, 1957 — October 27, 2016

Barre

BARRE CITY – Paul Edward Putney, Sr., 58, of Packard Street, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. His loving family members were at his side.
Born in Barre City on December 14, 1957, he was the son of Harold and Katherine (Scott) Putney. He attended elementary school in Barre Town and was a graduate of the Spaulding High School Class of 1975.
On October 4, 1979, Paul married the love of his life and old bowling partner, Lynn (Saia) Putney in Goose Green. Following their marriage they made their home on Packard Street in Barre, where they raised their two beautiful children and resided until the present day.
After Paul graduated high school he went to work at the Malden Mills Textile Plant in Barre Town, where he worked from 1975 until 1988. In 1988 he left Malden Mills and went to work for SW Rentals in Berlin. After a decade of being a hardworking and dedicated employee, Paul eventually purchased the business. Since then he and his wife, Lynn, have run SW Rentals, making it a staple of the local business community.
Paul was a longtime member of the Central Vermont Rotary Club and a devoted parishioner of the Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served as both a Church Elder and Treasurer for the parish.
Throughout his life he had many hobbies and interests, but the most important to him were working around the house and gardens, building his large Christmas village display, being an avid Green Bay Packers fan, yelling at the Boston Red Sox, and especially spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn, of Barre; his son, Paul Putney, Jr. and his wife, Rachel, and their two children, Alex Adams and Nicole Putney, all of Randolph; and his daughter, April Putney, of Seattle, WA. He also leaves three brothers, Roland Putney of Websterville, Ronald Putney of Chelsea, Harold “Murley” Putney of Barre, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Gail Putney, of Elmore.
A Church Service to honor and celebrate Paul’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 46 Warner Road, Berlin.
