WILLIAMSTOWN – Paul Gregory Donahue, 79, of Quarry View Road passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home.
Born on August 14, 1945, in Barre, he was the son of William and Glennis (Aldrich) Donahue. He attended Holy Ghost Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he became a paratrooper and served in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967 before he was honorably discharged.
On June 1, 1968, he married Susan Emerson in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Williamstown.
Paul worked for UPS as a driver for over thirty years and then joined the staff at Green Mountain Paving.
He was a member of the Canadian Club of Barre, American Legion Post #10 of Barre, and the Barre Lodge of Elks #1535.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching racing, golfing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, bowling, playing horseshoes, and mowing his lawn, although most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Paul was known by many names. Such as “Frog”, “Smokey”, “Grandpy” and “Papa”.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Donahue; his sons John Donahue and his wife, Dawn, and William Donahue and his wife, Maria; and his daughter Suzanne Bernier Douglas; his grandchildren Paul and his wife, Julie, Stephen and his girlfriend, Amber, Samantha, Lamar, Liam and Ana; his siblings Michael Donahue and his wife, Wendy; Colleen Gilligan and her husband, Jim; Gary Donahue and his wife, Brenda; and Greg Donahue as well as brothers and sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Stephen Donahue.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
