BERLIN - Patricia S. Gendron, 89, formerly of Beverly Hills, FL and Barre, died peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin with her family by her side.

Born October 13, 1927, to John W. Smith and Agnes (Carey) Smith in Colchester, and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1945.

She married Leo J. Gendron on November 26, 1949. While being a devoted mother and wife, she worked as a clerk at the Hollow Motel and in retail at the Homer Fitts Company and Arthur’s Department Store in Morrisville. She also managed the family business, White House Motor Court & Cabins at 285 South Main Street in Barre.

Those who had the pleasure to know Patty knew her as an intelligent, witty, confident woman and role model to all. She loved with all her heart and made it her job to take care of others in need. She enjoyed reading and spending time with friends and family. Patty loved to laugh and dance which you can see that she has passed down to her children she has left behind.

She leaves behind her son, Timothy, of Essex; seven daughters, Kathleen Chatot and husband, Phillip, of Georgia; Eileen Robinson and husband, John, of Wooster, OH; Marie Brock and husband, Tom; Margaret Fournier and husband, Norman; Joan Gendron; Ellen Greenough and husband Brad; and Jean Gosselin and husband, Gary all of Barre; daughter-in-law, Jody Buttura Gendron of Essex; her sister Maureen O’Brien of Southington, CT; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leo J. Gendron; daughter, Maureen; son, Patrick; sisters, Teta Mack and Joan Smith; and brother Jack Smith.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre City. Interment will follow at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville. There she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Resident Activity Fund at Woodridge Nursing Home P.O. Box 550, Barre, VT 05641.
