WILLIAMSTOWN – Norman “Peter” Ouimet, 75, of Vermont Route 14 passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born September 3, 1942 in Gardner, MA, he was the son of Norman L. and Priscilla (Thayer) Ouimet.
Peter attended Randolph Elementary School and graduated from Braintree-Randolph Union High School in 1961. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Leary and USS Compton before being honorably discharged in 1965.
On December 4, 1971 Peter married Beverly Martin in Barre.
He worked numerous jobs over the years before becoming employed by the Vt. Army National Guard in 1982 where he worked as a Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Technician until his retirement in 2002.
Peter was a member of the American Legion Post #10 of Barre. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, watching the Red Sox, golfing, riding his motorcycle, working outside and most of all time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ouimet of Williamstown; his children Scott Martin and his wife, Wendy of Raymond, ME; Mark Ouimet and his wife, Valerie of East Barre; and Cheryl Bogigian and her husband, Joe of Union Beach, NJ; his grandchildren Eri, Samuel, Jonah and Emma; his brother Paul Ouimet and his wife, Barbara of Schenectady, NY; and his sister Patricia Potter and her husband, Al of South Deerfield, MA.
Peter was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard Coy.
His life will be celebrated with a graveside service with full military honors at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center in the Spring.
