Niyoka V. Kelty

NORTH FERRISBURG - Niyoka Van Steenberge “Sukie” Kelty, 71, born to the late Clarence D. Kelty and Lena Belle Kelty (Clough) on January 12 1944 in Barre, VT, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday November 25 2015 from her home surrounded by love in North Ferrisburgh, VT.
She is the beloved mother of daughters, Shannon Marie Lonergan, Erin Dawn Lonergan, and Colleen Ann Lassiter (Lonergan), and son-in-law John Lassiter. Beloved sister of Stephen and wife, Betsy Kelty and brother, Earlwin and wife, Dolores Kelty well as late brother Patrick and wife, Shirley Kelty, late sister Theresa Kelty, late sister Anita Pecor (Kelty), and late brother John and wife Virginia Kelty. Beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Niyoka was raised in Websterville and in the Baptist Church. She attended Spaulding High School in Barre.
She married and later divorced Cornelius Lonergan. She supported her family through the years, as a waitress, a machine operator, a nanny, and a receptionist.
Niyoka was a prayer warrior and spent her life loving the Lord. She visited the Holy Land of Israel several times and traveled to the British Isles and many places in the US. She also supported numerous ministries, fiercely loved her family, the United States, and all things honorable and Godly. She was a woman of deep loyalty and profound faith and her guidance and prayers were precious to her families’ lives. “We await our reunion with her in the presence of our Lord and we pray, Come Lord Jesus come.”
Her memorial service will take place on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest in the Williamstown Village Cemetery in the spring.
