BARRE CITY – Nevia Emilie Campi, 94, of Camp Street, died early Saturday Morning, December 23, 2017 at her home.
Born in Waterbury on March 24, 1923, she was the daughter of Emilio and Edvige (Brusa) Campi.
She had attended the Franklin School of Science, the University of Vermont and Norwich University.
Nevia had worked as a Medical Technologist part time at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington and for 12 years at the former Barre City Hospital.
She later became a social worker for the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, later the Agency of Human Services, for the State of Vermont. Nevia had been a Supervisor, Director of Social Welfare, District Director of Social Services and retired as Director of Operations after 27 years of service.
She enjoyed painting in oils, reverse glass painting, theorem and decorative art and choir singing with the Barre Congregational Church for many years as well as other local groups. Nevia was also a member of the Bell Choir at her church.
She enjoyed pets, home entertaining and cooking.
Her memberships also included the Altrusa Club and the Vermont Conference of Social Concerns where she served as Secretary/Treasurer and was a past President.
Nevia also was a past Matron of Ruth Chapter #33 OES of Barre and had been treasurer of the Vermont State Rainbow Girls Association.
Survivors include David, Pat, Tim, Nick and Cassie Ross, cousins, many friends and her beloved dog, “Asti”.
For those of you who made it possible for Nevia not having to leave her home, thanks to Donna., Cathy, Theresa, Dorothy, Carolyn, Liz and Jackie as well as the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice and her special nurse, Mary.
The Graveside Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre City.
There are no calling hours.
