WILLIAMSTOWN– Milan Max Miller, 83, passed away at his home in Williamstown on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, due to natural causes.

Born on May 9, 1942, in New York City, NY, he was son of William Max and Audriene (Caldwell) Miller, an only child of two only children (no aunts or uncles). At a very young age, his parents moved to Iowa, to be closer to his maternal grandparents, where Milan worked on the Caldwell family farm in Indianola, Iowa.

Milan attended college in Ames, Iowa and graduated with a degree in Forestry. He worked out West and in the South for the United States Forestry Service, until he moved to New Hampshire in the mid 60’s. There he started his company, Woodland Services, providing forestry support to landowners. He also became a Christmas tree farmer, working with local landowners to plant, care for, and harvest trees in New Hampshire and Vermont.

In 1985, he met his wife, Cecelia (Lamson) Miller and moved to Williamstown, Vermont where she resided. He went from being an only child to a large family of Lamson’s. He enjoyed the family gatherings and welcomed everyone. He continued farming Christmas trees and forestry work until the age of 82. Milan loved nature and everything involved with it.

He served our country in the New Hampshire Army Reserve and National Guard from 1965 – 1971. He was a long-time member of the VT/NH Christmas Tree Association, the Williamstown United Church, and he served on the Williamstown School Board for a number of years.

Milan is survived by stepchildren Douglas Lamson and wife, MaryLeigh and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Sharon (Lamson) Newcomb, Carolyn Lamson, Patricia (Lamson) Hood and husband, Douglas and their children and grandchildren; Brenda Lamson and her children and grandchildren; Micheline Trottier and her stepsons Brian Lamson and wife, Jessica and children, and Eric Lamson; and Clayton Lamson and wife, Ann-Marie and their children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 38 years Cecelia Miller, and his stepsons Lawrence Lamson and Randall Lamson.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Williamstown United Church, 2374 VT Route 14, Williamstown. There are no calling hours.
