BARRE TOWN - Michele Gretchen Aylward, 52, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 22, 1966 in Framingham, MA, she was the daughter of Michael Aylward and Monique Cartier. She attended Barre Town Elementary School and graduated from Williamstown High School. She then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Norwich University with a degree in Psychology followed later by a degree from Vermont Technical College in Dental Hygiene. Michele loved her career as a dental hygienist at The Health Center in Plainfield and spoke frequently of her “work family” and how supportive and loving they always were to her.
Michele’s ultimate joy stemmed from three names: Jack, Destini, and Kylie. Michele was always very family-driven and when these three blessings came into her life, she was passionately committed. They were her motivation and center of her life.
In addition to her children, cooking and baking were activities that topped her list. She especially loved baking; many of her friends and family were fortunate to receive one of her beautifully decorated cakes. She also loved her furry friends and cared for several pets over the years.
Michele’s greatest gifts to us were her love, her effervescent personality (we always knew when she entered a room), her exuberance, her glorious smile, her infectious laughter and, most of all, the wonderful memories we have all individually created with her which will always give us comfort in moving forward. Lastly, we know she will forever be ‘giving us sugar.’
Survivors include her three beautiful children, Jack, Destini, and Kylie; her father, Michael Aylward and his wife Agnes; her mother, Monique Cartier and her life partner Richard Trombley; her brothers Shannon Aylward and his wife, Linda and Marcus Aylward and his wife, Cari; her sisters Maria Aylward and her partner, Jeff Sherman, and Kristin Pelkey and husband, Chris; her additional siblings Joe Estivill and Dena Estivill; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends may gather at the Barre Lodge of Elks #1535, at 10 Jefferson Street, Barre, VT on Sunday, March 17, 2019 starting at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of Michele’s life that will begin at 1:00 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to The Health Center, PO Box 320, Plainfield, VT 05667.
