WILLIAMSTOWN - Melanie Ann Corriveau Staake, 54, passed away at her home in Williamstown on Jan. 6, 2017. She was beloved by her children, family and friends for her kind nature, generous spirit, gentle wit and positive outlook on life.
Melanie was a senior accountant at Vermont State Employees Credit Union and a volunteer at the Vermont Foodbank. She also worked as a financial analyst and business education instructor. In her free time, Melanie was a passionate chef, gardener, skier and puzzle-solver. She loved to spend time at her family camp on Lake Champlain kayaking, cooking over an open fire, and walking her dog, Precious, to the beach to watch the sun set.
Melanie leaves behind her four children, Theodore, Alysse, Forrest and Blair Staake; her parents, Raymond and Eileen Corriveau; and her two brothers, Arthur and Raymond Corriveau. Grieving with them are their life partners and children, as well as extended members of the Corriveau, Jarvis and Staake families.
Memorial service Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, as follows: Visiting hours will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Hooker & Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre; a funeral Mass at 3 p.m. will be celebrated at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 76 Beckett St., Williamstown; a reception will immediately follow in the church hall, where attendees will be given the opportunity to share fond thoughts, memories and stories about Melanie. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider a donation in Melanie's name to your local food bank, humane society or favorite charity.
