GRANITEVILLE – Mary Rose Newton, 73, of Cogswell Street passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 5, 1946 in Barre, she was the daughter of Francis and Annette (Conti) Putney. She attended St. Monica Elementary School.
On July 3, 1966 she married Robert Ernest Newton in Orange, following their marriage they made their home in Orange and Graniteville. Robert passed away in March of 2008.
Mary was a homemaker and a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and knitting.
Survivors include her children Robert R. Putney of Berlin; Annette M. Newton and Sandy Mae E. Newton, both of Barre; and John F. Newton of Graniteville; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brothers Robert Putney and his wife, Amber of Graniteville; and Richard Putney and his wife, Luana of Williamstown as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert Newton, and her grandson James Newton.
The graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held in the Brook Haven Cemetery in Orange at a later time to be announced.
