BARRE TOWN – Mary Jean (Ainsworth) Mancini, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at home with her family by her side after a lengthy illness and is now in the hands of the lord.
Born in Hardwick, VT on April 25, 1933, to Paul and Arlene (Ross) Ainsworth of Woodbury, VT. In the early years Jean attended school in Woodbury, going on to Montpelier High School graduating in 1952. After high school she attended hair dressing school in Rochester, New York opening her own hair salon, after some time she continued her education receiving her License in Practical Nursing from Fanny Allen School of Nursing. Once receiving her LPN, she worked on the pediatric floor at Central Vermont Hospital, finishing her nursing career for Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.
In April of 1973, Jean married the love of her life Thomas Mancini of Barre, VT. It was here that they made their home for the next 51 years.
Jean enjoyed many things in life, but the one thing was her son Tommy, watching him grow and become a husband and father. Jean enjoyed spending time at her family camp on East Long Pond, downhill skiing, and time spent with her best friend and twin sister Mary Ann.
Survivors include her husband Tom, son Tommy (Carrie) Mancini, granddaughters Caroline and Sophia Mancini, sister Mary Ann (Ainsworth) Brown, brother Wendell (Ann) Ainsworth, sisters-in-law Orise Ainsworth and Maria McCloud, and brother-in-law Jim Mancini as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brothers Paul and Ralph Ainsworth, nephew Randy Ainsworth, and special brother-in-law Richard “Rip” Brown.
The family would like to thank Jean’s special niece, Bonnie for all the time, care and love she gave over the last years of Jean’s life.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Jean’s life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
