WHITE RIVER JCT. – Mary Jane Alger, 60, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at her home.
Born on January 19, 1965, in Woodsville, NH, she was the daughter of Kenneth J. and Adele Alger, Jr. Mary graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, VT in 1983. After high school she held numerous jobs until she started at AAA as a dispatcher for 30 years.
She loved crocheting, bird watching and spending time with her dog Barney until he passed. Although Mary didn’t have any children, she treated her nieces and nephews like they were her own.
In 2006 she met her life partner Leon Henderson and made their home in White River Junction, VT.
Surviving relatives include her life partner Leon Henderson, her mother Adele Alger, three brothers and their spouses Kenneth G. and Wendy Alger, John and Tina Alger, and Mark and Tracy Alger, her nieces Amanda Hernandez and Katelyn Alger and her nephews Jesse Alger, Bradley Alger, and Richard Beach.
Mary was predeceased by her father Kenneth Alger, Jr.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the service, a gathering will be held the VFW Post #790, Route 302, East Barre with light refreshments. Interment will take place at a later date in the spring at the Newbury Town House Cemetery in West Newbury, VT.
