BURLINGTON - Martha MacLeod Macdonald, 88, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November 13, 1937, in Barre, she was the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Graham) MacLeod. Martha graduated from Spaulding High School and went on to attend Becker Junior College.

She married Howard G. Macdonald in Barre on July 8, 1961. They lived there until 1971, when they moved their family to South Burlington, where they resided for more than 40 years.

Martha worked for the State of Vermont and later for the University of Vermont. She was a member of the Barre Presbyterian Church and the First Congregational Church in Burlington.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Douglas Macdonald and his wife, Deirdre, of Greenwich, CT and Jupiter, FL, their four daughters, Keily, Grace, Charlotte, and Lily; and her daughter, Ann Abare and her husband, Michael, of Toms River, NJ, their daughter, Nicole Fadden and her husband, Michael, of Brick, NJ, and their sons, Michael, Ryan, and Anthony.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Howard G. Macdonald.

A graveside service will be held later this spring at Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town. There will be no calling hours.
