Marla L. Hood

BARRE – Marla L. Hood, 60, of Paddock Street passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

Born on August 28, 1964, in Barre, she was the daughter of John C. and Beverly E. (Jones) Hood, Sr.  She attended Barre Town Elementary School and received her G.E.D. from Spaulding High School. Afterwards, she attended Community College of Vermont where she received an associate’s degree in accounting.

On March 6, 1986, she married Hank Fisher. They later divorced.

Marla was employed by the Vermont Center for Independent Living as a Receptionist.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, enjoying the sun, getting to the beach, watching and enjoying her grandchildren and playing games.

Survivors include her daughter Courtney and Bobbi Otis of Williamstown, her son Trevor Hood of Barre, her grandchildren Shyanne, Joe and Addison Otis Keough, Aaliyah, Savannah, Peyton Hood and Josie Haggett, her mother Beverly Hood of Barre, and her sisters Gail Bessette and Gary Davis of North Port, FL., Jean and Michael Perrigo of Barre, and brother John and Diane Hood, Jr., also of Barre as well as five nephews, three nieces, and many cousins.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her brother Gregory A. Hood.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
