WEST TOPSHAM – Marilyn Joyce O’Meara, 91, a longtime resident of East Orange, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Barre Gardens Nursing Home in Barre.

Born on December 18, 1931, in Barre, she was the daughter of Sherman and Eleanor (Chalmers) Bragg. She attended elementary school in Waits River and graduated from Bradford Academy in 1949.

In 1950 she married the love of her life, Kermit O’Meara, in a wedding ceremony held in Bradford.  The two made their home in East Orange, where they raised six wonderful children and lived out the rest of their days.  During this time, Marilyn worked at the West Topsham Post Office and Chanel Mills and she also gave piano lessons and worked on the dairy farm with her husband, Kermit.  But her most important job of all was being a mother and homemaker.

She was a longtime member of the New Hope Methodist Church in Waits River. She also enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, picking berries and spending time with her family and friends,

Survivors include her husband Kermit O’Meara; her children Dennis O’Meara and his wife, Mary of East Orange, VT; Eileen Gonzales and her husband, Diego of Sanford, ME; Brian O’Meara and his wife, Rebecca of  East Orange,  VT; Karen Hatch and her husband, Steve of West Topsham, VT; Patrick O’Meara and his wife, Bonnie of East Orange, VT; and Kelly O’Meara and his partner, Vivian also of East Orange, VT as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Lorraine Covey.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at the convenience of her family.
