Marian E. Walker

BERLIN - Marian E. Walker, formally of The Gardens of Williamstown and a long-time resident of Berlin, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation, where she had been a resident for the last 2.5 years.

A lifelong Vermonter, Marian was born in Montpelier, the daughter of George C.  and Anne (MacDonald) Walker, Sr.  She would have celebrated her 96 ^th birthday in February.

After graduating from Montpelier High School, she attended Bay Path College.  Marian was a trailblazer. Throughout her admirable career, Marian worked for AAA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Mary Fletcher Medical Center in Burlington, VT, where she spent the remainder of her career as a medical secretary in Pathology.  She retired in 1990 after more than 30 years in the field.  A favorite among the residents, Marian stayed in touch with several of them over the years.

Marian—or Mimi, as she was known to her family—had a love of animals, especially dogs.  She was a dog-mom to many rescues over the years and was an avid supporter of animal rescue groups.  A creative and talented designer, Marian sewed and knitted for most of her life. Her talent for producing freestyle garments and doll clothes was well-known in the local community; she dressed dolls for the kids’ tree at a local bank for many years.  Her creativity extended to jewelry making as well, designing and making pieces for herself, friends and family.

Survivors include her niece, Cindy Walker Parzych (Bill) of Richboro, PA, and her nephew, Peter D. Walker (Beth Carl) of Guilford, VT, as well as her grandniece, Christen Parzych of Fairview, TN; her grandnephew, Michael Parzych of Washington DC, and her sister-in-law, Jeanette B. Walker of Newburyport, MA.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother George C. Walker, Jr., her sister-in-law Ruth D. Walker and her grandnephew Daniel J. Parzych.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
