Lori J. Constantine
SOUTH RYEGATE - Lori Joy LeLacheur Constantine, 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 11, 2024, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She courageously fought a long battle with cancer, determined to beat it with the loving support of her family.
Born September 22, 1961, in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of Arthur and Doris (Farmer) LeLacheur. Lori grew up in Chelmsford, MA graduating from Chelmsford High School in 1979.
Lori later moved to Bradford, VT, where she met and fell in love with Jaime Constantine in 1980. Two years later, Lori and Jaime tied the knot on May 1,1982. They have raised two wonderful children together. Lori was the office manager for Connecticut Valley Appraisal Services for 20 years, she drove a bus for Butler’s Bus Service and worked at Moose River Lake and Lodge Store in St Johnsbury, VT.
Lori always had a passion for horses: she was the owner to Miss Lee, Gillette and Sabrina. She spent her weekends in the summertime soaking up the sun at Camp Skyland in South Hero, VT. Lori was known for her lust of the beach and passion for sea glass, symbolizing renewal and healing. She always made beautiful birthday cakes for her family and meticulously took care of their home.
Above all, family was everything to Lori. She was married 42 years to Jaime, she was an amazing mother and she loved watching her grandkids play while making special memories with them.
She is survived by her husband Jaime Constantine, her children; Josh Constantine and wife Suzanne of Kodak, TN, Nick Constantine and wife Christina of Corinth, VT; three grandchildren, Madyn Constantine, Nash Constantine and Reid Constantine; two grand-dogs Trace and Maple. She is also survived by her three sisters: Lyn Fischer of Bradford VT, Jayme Braun and husband Buddy of Gilmanton, NH and Janice ONeill and partner Rick Batt of Kennebunkport, ME.
Lori was predeceased by her father, Arthur Joseph LeLacheur, Jr., mother, Doris Farmer LeLacheur and grand-dog Jaxx.
Lori was devoted to her family and will forever be in our hearts. No one says it better than her pride and joy, Josh & Nick:
“I’ve been called a mama’s boy and that’s fine with me. I’m not ashamed to say to anyone how much I love my mom, she provided, guided and supported me to be the man I am today. She was the most selfless woman I know, stubborn, yes, I won’t disagree with that, but her priorities were her family’s health and happiness, never her own. Throughout her battle with cancer, she always made sure her family’s needs came first and hers second. She fought as long as she could for all of us and for that I am forever thankful. I hope as she looks down upon us as life goes on that I continue to make her proud and promise to keep her in my thoughts and memories forever. LOVE YOU MOST MUJA Love, Josh”
“My mother ended her fight with cancer early this morning the pain and the suffering. She did not give up or quit, but I believe she surrendered. Surrendered not to be defeated by it but to make sure her family, friends and loved ones did not have to see her in such a way any longer. Many of you know how stubborn my mother can be and bless her heart it was sometimes overwhelming but deep down it was for the good of someone else, she wasn’t doing it for her but her loved ones. The last few months were rough. I have always thought I was tough. But to see how strong, brave and willing to try anything to keep pushing forward to open a can of whoop ass some would say, unbelievable. She is the strongest damn woman I have ever known. She waved the white flag not because she couldn’t do it anymore but because she didn’t want her family to have to go through it anymore. I will miss her like crazy and think of her all the time much like I hope you all will. But I will say one thing and that’s that heaven better be ready, because there’s a new angel in town and she don’t take no shit. I love you mother, always, Nick.”
A Celebration of Lori’s life will be held in the Spring at a time to be announced.
