BARRE TOWN – Lois Ann Milne, 85, of Sugarwoods, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her home with her husband by her side.
Born on February 25, 1939, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Gordon and Marion (Keniston) Batten. She attended East Calais Elementary School and graduated from Montpelier High School, class of 1957.
After high school she attended the Vermont College of Cosmetology in Burlington.
On August 13, 1960, she married Robert Milne in Plainfield. Following their marriage, they made their home locally before moving to Newport and eventually settling in Barre Town.
In 1961, she opened LoAnn’s Style-Away Beauty Salon on Elm Street in Montpelier, later moving the salon to Main Street before selling it in 1974. She then moved to Newport.
Lois was always very supportive of her husband and his many endeavors and was a wonderful and caring mom to her three children.
Survivors include her husband Robert Milne, her children Sandi Milne Holden and her husband, Peter; Susie Palanca and her husband, Ray; and Jon Milne and his wife, Agnes; her grandchildren Vic Fontecchio, Christi Martin (Chase), Mandy Milne, and Lennon and Robby Holden; and her sister Margaret Senter as well as her niece Brenda Searles-Spratt and her husband, Butch.
She was predeceased by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. in the Canadian Club of Barre, 414 East Montpelier Road, Barre. There are no calling hours.
