BERLIN - Lizette Jean D’arc Morton passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center where she resided for the past 5 years. Lizette was 84 years old.

Born in Graniteville on July 2, 1933, she was the daughter of Joseph and Emilia (Roy) Routhier. She attended Holy Ghost Convent in Graniteville and later, married her husband Burgh “Buddy” Morton on October 27, 1951 at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Graniteville. They were married for 45 years. “Buddy” Morton died on January 6, 1997.

Lizette, affectionately nicknamed “Lee”, spent most of her career working at Sprague Electric and later at Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home. She was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church and St. Jean Baptiste.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and two grandsons, playing bingo, and going to yard sales. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing, and listening to country music.

Lizette was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and constantly put others before herself. She is survived by her only son Robert Morton and his wife, Susan Garback-Morton of Barre Town; two grandsons Jeffrey Morton and his partner Mark Litchfield of Peaks Island, Maine, and Eric Morton and his wife, Carissa Morton and two great-grand-children of Barre Town. She is also survived by her only sister Sylvia Morin and her husband Philip Morin of Graniteville as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:00 am in the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Graniteville, followed by inurnment at the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lizette’s memory to The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 13 Overlook Drive, Suite 1, Berlin, VT 05641, The Alzheimer’s Association- Vermont Chapter, 300 Cornerstone Drive, Williston, VT 05495, or to the American Parkinson Disease Association-Vermont Chapter, UVM Medical Center, 1 South Prospect Street, Burlington, VT 05401.
