EAST BARRE – Linda J. Atkins, 75, a long-time resident of East Barre passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
Born July 30, 1943 in Rutland, she was the daughter of Gardner and Adlena (DeCicco) Eells.
Linda attended elementary school in Rutland and graduated from Rutland High School with the class of 1961.
On June 1, 1963, she married Alfred W. “Buddy” Atkins in the Mendon Methodist Church in Mendon, VT. Following their marriage, they made their home in East Barre where they lived their entire married life. Alfred passed away in March of 2017.
Linda was a bank teller for some time before joining the staff of Hibbert and McGee as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the East Barre Congregational Church and the Ladies Home Demonstration Club of East Barre. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed camping, playing cards, knitting, sewing, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Nancy Manning and her husband, Mitchell of Orange; her son James Atkins and his partner, Jill DeAlmeida of East Barre; her grandchildren Mikayla, Shenia and Alexis Manning and Emily Atkins; her sister Susan Kelly of Rutland; her brother Chris Eells of Marietta, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband Alfred Atkins and her brothers Stanley and Dennis.
A memorial service to remember her life will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Barre Congregational Church, 2 Church Street, East Barre. There are no calling hours.
