BARRE - Lillian (Adolfsen) Sartorelli, 88, a lifelong resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Berlin, where she had been a resident for two years.
Lillian was born on September 8, 1928, in Barre to Hans and Gertrude (Carlson) Adolfsen. She was very proud of her Norweigian and Swedish ancestry. Lillian graduated from Spaulding High School with the class of 1946. She married Ugo Sartorelli on October 11, 1952, in Barre, where they made their home at 27 Waterman Street for 56 years.
Lillian was employed by the State of Vermont Auditor of Accounts Office, but left to raise her family. When the children were all in school, she returned to work at Calmont Beverage Company for 12 years.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, and knitting. She continued to pursue these activities for as long as possible after becoming legally blind. Lillian enjoyed travelling and went to Europe and the Caribbean numerous times. She attended St. Monica Church.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ugo Sartorelli of The Gardens in Williamstown, children Lisa (Dale) Merski of Westfield, NJ, Dr. Kennith (Mary Beth) Sartorelli of Williston, VT, and Linda (Frank) Lennox of Uxbridge, MA, nine grandchildren, Jeffrey and Samantha Merski, David, Ellen, Elizabeth, and Dana Sartorelli, and Cory, Taylor, and Nicholas Lennox.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica Church, 79 Summer St., Barre. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery in Barre.
